10 Simple Tools for Studying the Bible

Studying the Bible is something that many people want to do but aren't sure how. The list below offers you a few resources to help you with your studies. These resources range from beginner to advanced level.

  1. BibleGateway.com (Beginner)- My favorite Bible Gateway feature is the ability to align multiple translations at once. This allows you to see scripture from multiple angles. 
  2. BlueletterBible.com (Intermediate)- BLB offers a deeper look into scripture by giving you the definition of original Greek and Hebrew words in the text.
  3. Logos Bible Software (advanced)- Logos is a high-level resource for Bible study. While it can be made simple, it covers a very wide range of study tools.
  4. StudyLight.org (Beginner)- Studylight is a straight forward resource featuring various tools for study.
  5. FreeBibleStudyGuides.org (Intermediate)- This resource offers information that is accessible at the beginner level, but it challenges you to a significant level of study.
  6. BibleStudyTools.com (Beginner)- BST has a library of commentaries, dictionaries, and concordances. It also offers daily devotional content and topical studies.
  7. NLT Parallel Study Bible (Beginner/Intermediate)- This is the Bible I currently use as my daily reader. The NLT is an easy to read translation and the dual study notes offer great insight.  
  8. Dake Annotated Reference Bible (Intermediate/Advanced)- The Dake is for serious Bible readers. You can get lost for hours in the detailed notes that follow each chapter.
  9. The Bible Knowledge Commentary: Old Testament (Intermediate/Advanced)- This commentary walks you through the details of scripture while offering simplicity to complex topics.
  10. The Bible Knowledge Commentary: New Testament (Intermediate/Advanced)- This commentary walks you through the details of scripture while offering simplicity to complex topics.
