The Reason You Might Be Misunderstood
Thinkers are often some of the most misunderstood people in the world. Here are some ways thinkers are misunderstood:
- When we move fast, people don't realize we've been playing the scenarios in our heads for weeks.
- When we move slow, they don't realize we see something that they may not see.
- When we're quiet, we're probably thinking.
- When we're talking, we're still thinking (just out loud now.)
Whatever the reason, there are steps you can take to help people understand you better.
1. Understand Your Environment
Truth is, you will not fit in everywhere you go. That's okay. Learn to recognize the spaces that are a fit for who you are. Understanding your environment helps you learn how to navigate the people and processes around you.
2. Understand Your Expectations
Thinkers often want to over-deliver. Meaning our goal is to give people more than they expect. That can be a good thing. This can earn you a reputation as a high performer. On the other hand, we can sometimes frustrate ourselves offering more than what people are ready for. Take time to know what they expect of you.
3. Understand Your Energy
It is vital that thinkers take time to assess how much energy we have to available for a project or task. My brain is often like my web browser, too many tabs open. As a result, there are often multiple things I'm thinking about at any moment. If we don't manage this, we could end up starting projects that we never finish. Most thinkers really benefit from operators who actually implement their ideas. However, in the real world we often have to fulfill both roles. Practice thinking through things before you say yes.
I hope this gives you a bit of peace about being the best version of yourself.

P.S. Which of these 3 things do you struggle with most?
In the past year, 42% of pastors have considered leaving the ministry.
The reasons vary. Some are overwhelmed, some over worked, some just plain tired.
That's why we created the CHURCH SYSTEMS BOOTCAMP. It's a coaching program where we help leaders grow their church with our burning out the leaders or using complicated marketing strategies.
We introduce leaders to the 3G Model and how churches are already using it to grow.
